CRUISE THE FLIGHT AWAY!

NO FLY CRUISES FROM CELEBRITY.

Celebrity Cruises which now sails their latest ship ‘ECLIPSE’ from Southampton provides massive benefits of not having to fly. This has become and increasing concern as the Icelandic Volcano caused so much disruption over the last couple of weeks, a colleague of mine actually only managed to get back to the UK yesterday! So we are still feeling the knock on effects.

• No baggage restrictions- As long as it will fit in your cabin!!
• No Hassle
• Less stress
• No long delays at airport queues
• Check in on line for easier embarkations.

There are a variety of different cruises that you can choose from with Celebrity Cruises, giving the best option for ‘No Fly’ cruises.

• 4 Night Cork short break cruise
• 11 Night Canary Island Cruise
• 14 Night Scandinavia & Russia Cruise
• 14 Night Italian Mediterranean Cruise
• 14 Night Spanish Mediterranean Cruise
• 16 Night West Med & Adriatic Cruise

Celebrity Cruises are designed for discerning cruisers, with modern, sophisticated environments, impeccable service, enriching and inspiring onboard programs, and world-class cuisine. The ultimate in premium cruising. Enjoy delicious, freshly prepared cuisines, with European Style service attending to your every need, in a decadent atmosphere that exudes style and sophistication. With the fabulous Martini bar and Crush for champagne and caviar tasting, this is certainly a cruise for those who enjoy the finer things in life!

FREDS FUEL CHARGE FRENZY!

Fred Olsen Cruise Lines has recently announced that due to the current high price of oil they will be introducing a fuel supplement applicable to all new bookings from Wednesday 5th May 2010.

The supplement will be £3.00 per person per cruise night to a maximum of £60 per person and £1.50 per person per cruise night for third and subsequent occupants of a cabin to a maximum of £30 per person. The charges will apply to all bookings made on departures featured in Fred. Olsen's 2010/11 Worldwide brochure and the 2011 Preview brochure.
Fred Olsen also announced that, should the price of Brent crude oil fall back to £45 per barrel or below, averaged across the month prior to date of departure, the fuel supplement will be refunded to the passenger in the form of on board spending credit which personally I think is a great idea, the oil prices fluctuate so much that the is deemed a ‘back up plan’

Significantly, they only apply to new bookings while many cruise lines have reserved the right to impose fuel supplements on existing bookings Fred Olsen is only applying this to new bookings.

What do you think of the new fuel supplements and the subsequent offer if the prices reduce? Fair? Has anyone had fuel charges applied before?

Otters' Pocket

My Step daughter and I taking a little trip out!

RIVER CRUISING

iverWow. Its barely the end of April and here we are with the thoughts of Summer upon us. If your anything like me, planning what to do for holidays and short breaks are at the top of your list!! My first jaunt will be this weekend (River water levels permitting) I need to get 'Otters Pocket' back out and up to form this weekend, well I say 'I' when I actually mean Curtis, my other half, he is a boat engineer so he gets his hands dirty whilst I get domesticated.. Blow out the cobwebs from all corners body, mind and boat! Being on a river certainly brings a whole new level to the term 'Chill out and Relax'

Make sure you keep an eye out for the famous 'Plastic Bag fish' in city centre canals, but these are becoming rarer as British Waterways do an excellent job as is their cousin the 'Plastic Bottle Crab' amongst some of the more true natural greats, such as wild birds and a fowl.

As beautiful as these areas are, taking a river boat cruise through France and the Saone would knock socks off our ‘little’ waterways, Ill post some info on here about that over the weekend and try and show you some pictures of the ship, she really is a mighty vessel.
