New MSC MAGNIFICA

There are a number of new ships to delight in this year as you can see from my previous blogs, One of which being the brand new ship by the Italian line MSC. Within hours of its launch the words, Stylish, Classic and breathtaking were uttered in awe of this new ship. The 11th ship to join the fleet, it marks something of a return to elegant chic and tradition that has helped this Italian cruise line stand out from its competitors. You won’t find the Swarovski staircases and light sculptures that adorn Fantasia & Splendida or the fantastic Zebra Bar onboard MSC Poesia. Far from being bland in comparison Magnifica plays host to a Piano in the Atrium that appears to float on water itself and fun bits like mini ten pin bowling alley, lighter smaller balls make it more family friendly, a 4D Cinema, Tiger bar, glitzy casino and a nightclub for those night owls amongst us.

Based in Venice it may subject to the elements so it one of its pools features an outdoor pool roof that can be closed in bad weather so that we don’t miss out on any of the facilities available. There is a gym at the front of the vessel, part of the Balinese inspired spa facility where you are greeted with wei, that slight bow with hands in prayer-like position. The spa has thermal suites, Turkish baths, two saunas, a hair salon and spa bar where energising smoothies can be obtained. There are of course the usual pampers and treatments including massage and facials – wrinkle free treatments and two new signature offerings, a 60minute Aurea Papaveris, helping to aid slimming and treat cellulite. 45 minute Himalayan massage using fossil salts to energise your ions!!!

Expect families onboard during school holidays as MSC have great offers with free under 18s (Pay for flights and port taxes) with excellent kids clubs especially for the under 6. Older teens can hang out together in specially designed clubs. There is definitely no shortage on entertainment on board in the bars and lounges and the theatre which dancers and acrobats appealing to the many different nationalities onboard. Never wanting to be bored of the same cuisine? Not something to worry about here as there are 5 places to eat, two dinning rooms, a self service area which becomes the waiter-service L’oasi a la Carte restaurant in the evenings whose menu has been designed by Mauro Uliassi a two Michelin star award and winning a string of Italian food awards. There is also an oriental plaza serving an array of Chinese dishes something for everyone..
One ship that truly lives up to its name – MAGNIFICA!!
