British Supermodel Twiggy To Name New Luxury Cruise Ship



This is becoming a habit, what with Reba last week, but Ive found out today that TWIGGY!!! (OMG, Ive heard of her!) is to be honoured with the Title of 'Godmother' to name the 450-passenger Seabourn Sojourn, the fifth of the Yachts of Seabourn fleet, in a ceremony at London's Greenwich on 4 June.

Supermodel Twiggy, who rose to fame in Britain before embarking on a global career, Twiggy will join an exclusive group of British national treasures when she performs the honours with the Champagne. Only weeks ago, prima ballerina Darcey Bussell cut the ribbon on P&O Cruises' Azura. Dame Helen Mirren named P&O's Ventura in 2008 and, back in 2005, Joanna Lumley became godmother to Princess Cruises' Sea Princess. All four women are known for their elegance and charm (much like the ships)– and all four are absolutely adored by the British public and quite rightly so!

market by naming the 35,000-ton ship in London. The choice of a very British style icon as godmother completes the picture. Twiggy was and still is, after all, one of the most memorable faces of London in the Swinging Sixties. Her career is still going strong, fronting the Marks & Spencer advertising campaign –
and it doesn't get more British than M&S. Like her fellow godmothers, though, she's famous on both sides of the Atlantic, having starred on Broadway in the 1980's and most recently as a judge on the popular TV show "America's Next Top Model." With the very famous Tyra Banks (Maybe she will get her wand one day!)

Twiggy is also well known for how heavily involved in charity work she is. Avidly working on behalf breast cancer awareness, this one of the causes for which she campaigns that also seems to be a cause to which many cruise

lines are committed. In my experience of US, If a company has anything to do with charities, this is top of their list.In fact, Seabourn has donated Sojourn to Breast Cancer Haven on Saturday, 5 June, for an exclusive, invitee-only fundraising gala dinner!! (Now that’s quite a coo for both organisations)
